The Mallard is one of the most common and easily identified ducks. It is an ancestor of many other types of duck and can easily interbreed with them. It is also one of the most desirable wild ducks for the table.
Mallards eat insects, worms, crustaceans, mollusks, and grasses. Please do not feed the ducks bread, it is not good for them. Feed them oats, cracked corn, cut grapes, peas, lettuce, or even vegetable scraps or peelings cut into small pieces.
